The IC-905 is the industry's first microwave platform operating on the 144, 430, 1200, 2400, 5600 MHz and 10 GHz* bands.
It enables operation in many modes, including SSB, CW, AM, FM, RTTY, D-STAR DV / DD and FM-TV (amateur television).
Output power: 10 W for 144, 430, 1200 MHz, 2 W for 2400, 5600 MHz and 0.5 W for 10 GHz.
* CX-10G is required for operation on the 10 GHz band, available as an optional module.
Separate controller and RF unit
The IC-905 is the industry's first ultra-high-performance microwave base station with an RF unit designed to be located close to the antenna. This design eliminates signal loss caused by costly, long coaxial lines found in older SHF designs. A 5 m cable is supplied with the controller. Cables of 20 m or 50 m length are available as an option.
Shorter signal cable
With the RF unit mounted near the antenna, transmit and receive signals reach maximum levels, since the length of the coaxial feed line is measured in centimeters rather than meters. This minimizes signal loss. This is made possible by the controller cable, which provides digital communication between the controller and the RF units.
Power supplied from the controller
DC power is supplied from the controller to the RF unit. In addition, the optional CX-10G is powered from the IC-905 RF unit.
GPS-controlled oscillator for maximum frequency stability
Frequency accuracy and stability are required for operation on the SHF band. Even with a high-performance OCXO, the frequency gradually shifts due to temperature and aging. To address this, the IC-905 uses a precise 1 pulse per second (1 PPS) clock signal from an internal GPS (GNSS) receiver to enable advanced frequency control.
Real-time preview of a 50 MHz wide signal spectrum
The IC-950 features a high-performance real-time signal spectrum scope and \""waterfall\"" display.
The real-time spectrum scope can be used in center, fixed and scroll modes.
It covers a wide bandwidth of up to 50 MHz.
ATV mode (Amateur TV)
The IC-905 is compatible with ATV mode (FM-TV, NTSC, PAL or SECAM). When an analog camera is connected, the IC-905 can transmit video and receive video in real time. In addition, received video can be displayed on a screen via the composite video input.
Common ICOM user interface
The IC-905 controller is designed based on the compact IC-705 and uses ICOM's Common User Interface system used in ICOM transceivers with a touchscreen.
Full D-STAR functionality
DV, DD mode, DR function, terminal mode and access point mode make D-STAR easy to use. It is also possible to send, receive and display received images with the IC-905.
Optional 10 GHz transverter, CX-10G
The CX-10G transverter enables operation on the 10 GHz band by converting the 2400 MHz IF signal. Operation on the 10 GHz band becomes more accessible and easier to use. The CX-10G is in \""bypass\"" mode when using the 2400 MHz band.

A separate 10GHz band transceiver module - CX10G, which is optional, also rated IPX5 for weather resistance, and connects to the transceiver module. Control is via the \""controller\"" IC-905 through the transceiver module, and additionally the signal from the GPSDO also goes to the CX-10G to ensure high frequency stability. This module also uses an SMA-socket antenna connector. The transceiver module, which can be placed right next to the antenna, reduces signal transmission losses with a longer antenna cable. Every \""saved\"" centimeter counts for the higher bands, in favor of improving the connection.
