The NXDN protocol is an advanced digital communications standard jointly developed by Icom (IDAS system) and Kenwood (NEXEDGE system). Like dPMR, it utilizes FDMA (Frequency Division Multiple Access) technology to maximize spectrum utilization.

NXDN (NEXEDGE/IDAS) Radios – Narrowband FDMA Efficiency

NXDN is a professional digital communications protocol developed jointly by Icom (IDAS) and Kenwood (NEXEDGE). It is an FDMA system characterized by exceptional spectral efficiency, offering operation on narrow channels of 6.25 kHz and 12.5 kHz. Thanks to the advanced AMBE+2 vocoder, NXDN radios provide crystal-clear audio, noise reduction, and excellent coverage, especially in challenging signal conditions.

The NXDN system is designed for the most demanding users—from simple conventional networks to advanced, multi-site IP trunking networks.
