DX-HF-MAT-50 magnetic grounding mat for HF mobile antennas.
The mat improves grounding, or even provides grounding, for antennas mounted on roof rails, trunk lid mounts, etc.
Product description
- In the past, an HF band antenna had to be used to provide grounding to the vehicle body, but with this product you can simply connect it to the upper or lower part of the body, preventing the buildup of electrostatic charge between the body panel and the metal body surface. It's an excellent accessory that grounds the antenna and the vehicle body through a capacitive coupler. It can also be used to compensate for a lack of mounting surface.
- Simply attach this product to the vehicle to ground the body in the 7-30 MHz frequency range (by setting the connecting cable to 20 cm or less, the 50 MHz band can also be used). Additionally, by using 2 sets of this product, a grounding effect below the 3.5 MHz band can be achieved and used without issue (when using the 3.5 MHz band, the 50 MHz band cannot be used).
- Since it is a magnetic mat, it is very easy to install and remove.
- The product is ideal for roof rails, roof mounts, magnetic mounts, etc., that have not previously been grounded.
- The product is very compact, measuring 80 x 195 mm. Even at speeds of 100 km/h, there's no need to worry about it tearing off.
Installing the DX-HF-MAT-50 grounding mat for HF antennas
- First, clean the metal body surface that the product will be attached to, to remove dust and dirt. Also make sure no foreign objects (such as dust or small metal particles) are stuck to the product's surface. Choose a flat surface whenever possible. However, if it is slightly curved, it can still be attached.
- Make sure the base fits tightly against the body. - Unscrew the nut (M6) that secures the cable assembly connector from the mount currently in use.
- Insert the end of the product's connecting cable into the connector and tighten the previously removed nut (M6) to secure it. Please refer to the installation examples below.
- When using the 50 MHz frequency band, shorten the connecting cable to 20 cm or less (the full length of the main plate can be connected) and join the terminals together by soldering.
Checking the grounding mat installation
After completing the product installation, transmit (at low power) on the frequency in use and measure the SWR. If the SWR is low, connect the thin housing plate and the connecting cables.
- Please note that joining coaxial cables and connecting cables may worsen the SWR.

Precautions for use
- Despite this product's non-stick coating, depending on the situation it may damage the paint surface, for example sticking to peeling paint caused by corrosion and leaving marks.
- If the adsorption surface is dirty or wet, the product's adsorption force will decrease and may cause peeling.
- Do not mount the base on, for example, door seams. The adsorption force will decrease.
- When removing the product, hold the thin part and do not pull on the cable.
- The mat is attached to the metal body surface using a magnet, so it cannot be attached to materials such as glass, steel, or aluminum - there is no grounding effect.
- For long-term use of the product, check and re-secure the product regularly.
