Global Communication Range via the D-STAR Network
The ID-50E is a compact dual-band VHF/UHF radio supporting D-STAR (Digital Smart Technology for Amateur Radio) and FM modes. By connecting to the digital network, you can reach friends in other cities and regions around the world. Smart features such as Band Scope and photo sharing make using the ID-50E radio an exceptional experience. Enjoy global communication via the D-STAR network.
Easy DR Function (D-STAR Repeater)
The DR function simplifies communication via D-STAR repeaters. Simply select ""FROM"" (access repeater) and ""TO"" (destination) to establish a QSO connection, including local, via internet gateway and simplex. Combined with the GPS function, local repeaters can be quickly found based on your location. Additionally, the DR function supports reflector connection control.
Photo Sharing Function* – Expand Your QSO Fun
You can share photos in DV mode. Photos from Android™ devices can be edited and shared using the ST-ID50A software. Windows computer users can use the function via a microSD card or USB cable thanks to the ST-ID50W software. Before sending a photo, you can preview it on the ID-50E display. Share photos along with voice messages.
*The photo sharing function requires the optional ST-ID50A software (available on Google Play™) or ST-ID50W (downloadable from the Icom website) and a USB Type-C/Type-C cable provided by the user.
Create Your Own Internet Gateway
In areas without D-STAR repeaters, you can create your own internet gateway (Terminal Mode and Access Point Mode*), gaining access to the D-STAR network almost anywhere. Setting up an Access Point is simple – just connect the ID-50E to a PC or an Android™ device with internet access. This allows another D-STAR radio user to communicate over the D-STAR network via radio.
Terminal Mode / Access Point Mode:
- In Access Point mode, the RS-MS3W software (downloadable from the Icom website) and a USB Type-C cable provided by the user are required.
- In Terminal Mode, the RS-MS3A software (downloadable on Google Play™) and a USB Type-C cable provided by the user are required.
- Terminal and Access Point modes are compatible with the Icom RS-RP3 Gateway software. If your D-STAR repeater runs on G1 or G2 software, ask the repeater administrator to contact your local Icom distributor to update the software.
Smart Features and Operations
