The ICOM IC-7300 transceiver was enthusiastically received by amateur radio operators from around the world at its premiere during the Tokyo Ham Fair 2015.
The latest offering from the Japanese company ICOM – the IC-7300 base transceiver operating in the HF + 50MHz + 70MHz bands is built around FPGA processors taken directly from SDR transceivers. This solution brings many benefits – the most important being lower susceptibility to interference between individual transceiver components, and device performance that is independent of the hardware and depends instead on the software used. The signal from the antenna, after passing through the bandpass filters, is converted into digital form, and only then is this signal further processed by the FPGA processor in the radio. This solution significantly reduces the level of phase noise introduced by the individual circuits of transceivers with a classic design.
The IC-7300 is equipped with a 4.3-inch touchscreen color TFT display. Besides a clear improvement in the readability of the displayed information, the signal can be shown as a waterfall and spectrum scope.
The introduction of touchscreen controls significantly simplifies and speeds up working with the ICOM IC-7300 transceiver.
Among the new features, it's worth mentioning a few:
- IP+ enabling reception of weak signals additionally disturbed by strong adjacent signals,
- automatic antenna tuner with latching relays that save power consumption,
- 15 discrete bandpass filters with a high Q factor,
- a new-generation speaker equipped with its own resonance chamber,
- an SD card slot supporting cards up to 32GB, on which you can save IC-7300 settings, memory channels, received signals, your own voice calls, etc.,
- a 4.3-inch touchscreen color display,
