The radio operates on the SP-DMR network - upon customer request we upload FM and DMR repeaters and configure the radio - the user receives a radio ready to use (provided a DMR ID and callsign are supplied).
Unlike many other DMR two-way radios, the AnyTone AT-D578UV PRO offers true VFO operation, making it far better suited to amateur radio applications.
On the AnyTone AT-D578UV PLUS you can set the frequency and other parameters just as with traditional two-way radios, instead of relying only on preprogrammed memory channels.
Of course, the AT-D578UV also offers the ability to work in preprogrammed memory channel mode - and it offers as many as 4000 of them.
This does not mean you are limited to memory channels.
Another difference compared to other DMR two-way radios is the ability to modify most (unfortunately not all) transceiver parameters. This is useful, as you don't need to connect a computer for every settings change. Nevertheless, to access and modify truly all settings, you still need CPS programming software and a computer.
The AnyTone AT-D58UV is not just a 'higher-power handheld D878UV radio' in a mobile housing. In addition to well-known features such as FM APRS and DMR roaming and the new Bluetooth option, the AT-D578UV-Plus now offers the ability to receive DMR and an analog channel at the same time - a true twin-bander. Of course, you can also receive two analog channels simultaneously. For easy setup, each of the two bands has its own volume control, assigned to the VFO separately.
Transmit power can be set to four levels, with a maximum power of 50W on 2m and 45W on 70cm.
The radio can be paired via BT with the car's audio system, and thanks to the included wireless PTT button, which can be mounted e.g. on the steering wheel, the driver is completely freed from having to pick up the transceiver's microphone.

In total 10 buttons (actually 9 + the button on the channel selector knob) on the radio and microphone can be individually assigned functions, allowing users to set their own functions.
The brightness of the 1.77' color display and the backlit keys on the device and microphone can be adjusted in several steps. This ensures perfect readability even in sunlight and no glare when driving in the dark.
The AT-D578UV's roaming function is independent of the device's position. During roaming, the system checks whether a repeater is available from a predefined list and automatically sets it as needed. Roaming can be triggered manually or by information that the set repeater is or is no longer reachable. Roaming channels can be divided into zones similar to conventional channels, corresponding for example to geographic regions or routes.
Another feature worth highlighting is the ability to store several DMR IDs. This would make it possible to use the device both in a company's professional radio environment and later with a different ID in amateur radio, or to have several family members share the device.
The AnyTone AT-D578UV PRO is equipped with a GPS receiver; position data can be transmitted over the air (DMR-APRS and FM-APRS). The device also has a connector for an external GPS antenna, which is included with the radio.
The AT-D578UV is a dual-band device (VHF and UHF); both bands can operate in analog FM or digital DMR.
A WFM receiver for the FM broadcast band is also available.
The antenna connector is UC1 type (PL / SO259).

The radio can be programmed using dedicated computer software and a special PC programming cable, which can be purchased separately as an optional accessory.
Any programming and modification of the original settings must be carried out by a specialist technician or an authorized service center.
