A complete antenna switch with controller for connecting 4 antennas to a single coaxial cable.
This solution lets you connect as many as four HF antennas using a single high-quality coaxial cable, while also improving the appearance of your antenna installation.
The switch is built in a waterproof housing that is resistant to UV and rust. The mounting screws are stainless steel, and the nuts are brass. The relays used in the switch are RM85 relpol - hermetic, with silver-plated contacts.
Test version of the switch withstood 3kW of power output from the PA.
Using the knob on the controller, you select the antenna you want to work on, while the inactive antennas are shorted to ground at that time.
The switch therefore provides a degree of protection for your transceiver against atmospheric discharges.
The switch is powered by 13.8V and draws about 50mA. The 5-core control cable can be very thin (e.g. computer twisted-pair cable) thanks to the high sensitivity of the relay coils.
Connect the control cable on a 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5 basis according to the pin numbering on the connectors: pin 1 on the controller-side connector to pin 1 on the switch connector, and so on.
Pins 1 to 4 correspond to the individual relays, and pin 5 is ground.
The remaining contacts on the controller connector - 6, 7, 8, 9 - are connected to ground, i.e. shorted to pin 5
